The head of the National Laboratory of Forensic Science, Chief Director S&ouml;derman brought me together with a former Norwegian officer X, who had previously served at border security around Kirkenes. X had as a tourist spent his summer in the border areas near Russia (sports fisher)

X added the following

He had during the night between 8 and 9 July been fishing salmon in Grens Jaakobs elv (on the map Vuoremijoki), more closely where Korpvandselven (outflow from Korpvandet) flows in the previous river. These form an extension called Langvand. On the other side (to the east) of Langvand is a Russian area dominated of the mountain range Kivitunturi. This consists of two mostly parallel bare ridges, where by the eastern is steeper and higher.

X heard two loud detonations at 23:35, which seemed to have originated from explosions. A sizzling but strong sound (as from a welding apparatus, but more expansive)

A thin long cloud of &ldquo;steam and heat&rdquo; appeared over the from the observer far side of Kivitunturi, from which a projectile resembling object was launched. The assumed projectile made a 30 to 40 degree angle. The firing direction was southwestern. The distance to the phenomenon was estimated to 5-8 km.

Visibility was good and the sun was up.

A fishing buddy to X, former petty office at the Norwegian border guard, located a few hundred meters from X, made the same observation.

When specifically asked X said, that he believed the &ldquo;projectile&rsquo;s&rdquo; length to be 10 &ndash; 15 meters. He considers this estimate to be uncertain.

On the 9 July X left the border areas where the observation was made.
