Regarding: Air torpedos over lake Treh&ouml;rningen.

Saturday, August 24th, at 15:15, brickyard owner Sigfrid Forsberg, V&auml;stervik, Ume&aring; parish, born 1914, telephone Treh&ouml;rningen 32, reported over telephone to undersigned, that an unknown object, most likely related to some form of aerial torpedo, passed four different times during the summer over the village V&auml;stervik with a westerly course across the lake Treh&ouml;rningen. An investigation made the same day in V&auml;stervik the following was found.

Sometime in late May 1946, above mentioned Sigfrid Forsberg, along with workers Tycko Andersson, Treh&ouml;rningen, born 1901, and Holger Sandstr&ouml;m, Treh&ouml;rningen, born 1927, all at the moment occupied at a house under construction, belonging to Forsberg, at the eastern shore of Treh&ouml;rningen, observed around 16:00 an object in the air at a height of 100-200 m. The object was described as having a torpedo-like appearance, with a greyish colour and having some sort of wings and possibly a guide fin. The length was estimated to about 1 meter, as was the width including the wings, that is, between the wing-tips. The &quot;torpedo&quot; went at a high speed with a sound similar to an airplane at high velocity but with its engine turned off. No light of smoke phenomena could be observed. The torpedo continued in a western direction over the lake at a constant altitude. When it reached approximately the middle of the lake, the course changed by some ten degrees towards south. The change of course seems to have been achieved by the torpedo leaning over to the left. After the change in course the torpedo disappeared out of sight.

Friday, 5th of July, around 11:00, a torpedo of the same type was again observed by builder J.B. Forsberg, V&auml;stervik. This torpedo had a westerly course as well, went at about 100 m height at high velocity. It passed over the lake about 300 m south of the previously described torpedo, and continued out of sight while retaining course and height.

Monday, 8th of July, around 16:00, above mentioned J.B Forsberg and his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Britt Forsberg, once again observes a torpedo of the same kind and with the same course as the last one described. The height was in this case around 75-100 m when it passed the eastern seashore. The velocity was in this case lower. Forsberg tries to explain this, with the torpedo going out. Both Forsberg and Britt Forsberg saw clearly how the torpedo descended towards the lake and hit the water surface about 700-800 m out on the lake. Mrs. Britt Forsberg observed a splash and a water cascade where the torpedo hit the water surface. This torpedo also seemed to only produce a faint sound. According to Forsberg its motion was tottering and unstable when it descended towards the lake.
